  2. I took many of Dr. Daniel L. Clinciu’s classes during my four years at Feng Chia University, both at BA and IMBA levels. He encourages real though provoking conversations and allows class discussion. I found his ability to have guest speakers really added to the final take-away of the class. If given the opportunity, I would 100% take one of this lectures or classes again!

Without the pressure of exams, we have more flexible time and energy to gain higher knowledge. Thanks for the technology and science nowadays, that we can communicate with different students, teachers, and people around the world. Just like the communication of hospitality and tourism course I had, because of the social media that we can talk to Mr. Eddie Constantinescu, having lots of interaction and getting lots of new ideas about our topic. Hope we can get more opportunities to learn things from different people throughout the world.

My question: there are a certain number of dilemma that I have experienced before starting anything, or before starting a business are: fear of failure, accustomed to comfortable, and can not focus. What strategies can I do to resolve this dilemma?

Thank you to our speakers today my teacher Mr. Eddie and Daniel L.

Thanks for your comment Debora. If you go over Chapter 7 in the Education, Careers and Globalization book I mention what are some of the characteristics of companies that reduce the risk of failure. If you think about companies like E-bay, Amazon, Alibaba, etc. these are some good examples of companies that did not have to risk too much or had little to loose if anything because they were following current trends in business and technologies. So the important thing is to observe and understand what trends are on the international scene in terms of products and services that are making their way to your own location and find a way to test the local market to see if it could sell.

I must say that I’ve never seen these kind of things in Spain, hopefully professors there will add these methods to make classes more attractive to students as well as presenting real cases, and not just theory from the book. As a German exchange student at Providence University in Taiwan, the International Business lessons of Daniel are always a very interesting and inspiring time for me. I like the teaching style of Daniel, encouraging all students to take part, comment, bring up topics and answer questions. The course is very helpful to see the broader picture of International Business and not just theoretical studies but connected to the real life. In every lesson, I get new perspectives and ideas and today, we had the pleasure to hear and talk to Eddie as a guest speaker online. I liked how he took time to answer our questions and that he gave good and reasonable explanations for the statements he made when we questionned some of them.

  24. I think discussions are very important for classes, to get new ideas, different options and other views on topics. To have these online live discussions trough internet with people which are not in the same country as me, is for me globalization. Globalization is the interaction and integration among people of different nations. It is the perfect example, that a German student has an American teacher in Taiwan and is able to have a discussion via internet with a speaker oversea. Information is faster than some years ago and I think this is the future.

In my opinion it is a very creative way to aquire new knowledge. By giving every Student the chance to actively participate in the lessons discussions one starts to question different arguments and bulid up your own opinion.
The guest Speaker Eddie enriched the lesson by a new perspective to further interesting issues.

  26. I am an exchange student at Providence University and I have the chance to attend Daniel’s “International Business Management” course. The main method of this class is the exchange of opinions, I have two opinions on this method: first, it’s interesting to talk with other people from around the world, discuss a subject and see the same thing from different points of view, thanks to that you can open your mind and see that their angle of view is different on the same subject, it encourages people to participate and try to make the course more active and we can learn more, but I think that doing this all the time gives us a lack of concrete theories, I prefer to learn something clear, written, and not based on ideas, but that’s only my point of view.
Having Eddie’s intervention was a chance for us, having a direct live with an expert based in the United States while we were in class in Taiwan is amazing and I never had that chance in my school in France yet. Even if there were some communication problems because of a bad connection, I could understand some ideas and some examples.

From the cultural perspective of his classes, allowing us to express our own opinion and thoughts in class was what I remembered most. Although sometimes our opinions are not always on the same side of the debate, Dr. Daniel L. Clinciu is very accepting of diverse opinions, encouraging students in the classroom to share their own thoughts.

Next is how he was able to structure his classes in a way that every student could catch up. Unluckily, at the end of the semester, I was in a car accident, so I was not able to attend the last few weeks of Professor Daniel’s class, but what helped me to keep us was this website that he established. This gave me the ability to complete work outside the class and listen to lectures while recovering from the car crash.

For example, how to incorporate and manage uncertainty and risk within supply chain management; ways to segment different customers, products, and channels and design an optimal portfolio of logistics approaches and strategies for these various segments; identifying, designing, and implementing the appropriate forecasting methodology for each segment; and also, selecting the optimal transportation routing and modal choice for each segment. I had learned a lot from Dr. Daniel’s supply chain management class this semester. In Dr. Daniel’s class, he always raises questions for students to discussion. Through the discussion, I could always get new ideas and new perspectives from it. Also, Dr. Daniel’s would give us case studies, and teaches us how to analyze those issues from different kinds of aspects. It’s a creative way to learn.

Moreover, Dr. Daniel always has adequate preparation of teaching materials. He would find related videos on Youtube for students to have a deeper understanding about the concept which it’s really a helpful way to gain knowledge. Thank you for your teaching, Professor Daniel L. Clinciu!

After all the courses of this semester, I have learned plenty of new viewpoints and knowledge on supply chain management. How businesses have control over its backstage operation is also an important key to success as well as the primary activities. We learn things about logistics, support services, and so on. This class gave us peeks into the area we had little understanding.
Aside form regular courses, professor would also invite guest to deliver speeches to us. So that we could absorb information form different sources.
To warp up, I have receive so much in Daniel’s Supply Chain Management.

I attended one class of International Business Adm by one of the team developers of this live forum. It was mostly the exchange of opinion by the students that we had in class. We also had a solid opinion and discussion came from the guest speaker based in foreign countries, we did by online face to face. It was great invention to have such learning method. In spite of the fact it was done online, we could still do direct question and answer, and the geographical barrier for the speaker/narasumber itself becomes problem no more. However, I would recommend more on adding more based theories on business itself. Experiences are so worth learning, however, they come in different ways, processes and results, while student will need a stand point in which they can do International business administration in general. And I believe, nothing can guarantee that every participant in class/discussion already has background knowledge on business. Therefore, teaching theories are also important. Finally, I must say that this live forum for exchange opinion are important, fun and worth doing.

Mr. Daniel’s approach to teaching is rather unique compared to the other classes I have taken thus far in university. He does not believe in giving midterms nor finals, which I can wholeheartedly support because sometimes a written exam is not the best method in measuring whether a student has learned anything. Moreover, Mr. Daniel put a lot of emphasis on having students participating in class as opposed to just him teaching and students listening.
